I purchased approx. 250gm of dried and extremely salty slices of king mackerel,
Before frying, I rinsed the slices and soaked the slices for a few minutes in water – the slices becomes soft in texture and also looses some amount of salt in the process, however the fish slices are salty because of the generous amount of salt used in the preservation process.
I marinated the slices for approx. 5 minutes with 1/2 tsp. of turmeric powder, 1 tsp. of garam masala – any variant of garam masala according to preference and a tbsp. of white cooking vinegar, the fish slices are salty so it’s best not to add any extra salt for the marination.
Shallow fry the slices in adequate quantity of any, mild-flavour vegetable oil for approx. 5 minutes.
Because the fish slices are salty, it is best to have the slices in less quantity along with plain-cooked rice.
