Quantity of kolam or basmati rice: approx. 125 gm = 1 medium bowl full of rice

Blend pieces of a medium star anise in adequate quantity of warm, any mild-flavour vegetable oil, add the blend with finely sliced pieces of 2 medium tomatoes; when the tomato pieces begin to melt, add small pieces of cheese from a thick slice of cheese – according to preference of taste, smidgen the mix with salt – according to preference of taste, blend the mixture with 1/4 tsp. of turmeric powder; when the tomato and cheese mixture melts in low heat, add rice to the blend, blend the mixture with one and a half medium bowl of water, cook the pulao/pilaf in low heat until the water evaporates.
