The delicious recipe of nutritionally rich fava beans:
Quantity of dried fava beans – about 125 gm,
Soak the dried fava beans in warm water for overnight,
Peel off the outer thin layer of the fava beans.
- In adequate quantity of warm, any mild-flavour vegetable oil, add 1 tsp. of cumin seeds, sauté finely sliced pieces of 2 medium onions,
- Add finely sliced pieces of 2 medium tomatoes to the translucent onion mix,
- Blend the melted mixture with sliced pieces of a green chilli for mild-pungent flavour – these green chillies are small and extremely slender, and have a fresh pungent flavour; ¼ tsp. of turmeric powder, ¼ tsp. or more of shahi garam masala – according to preference of flavour (some of the ingredients of this spice mix are coriander, chilli, cumin, salt, fennel, lichen, cassia bark, star anise, black cardamon, bay leaf, caraway, triphala, black pepper, clove, etc.); smidgen the mixture with salt – according to preference of flavour,
- Add the fava beans, and finely grated shreds of coconut meat from half of a small coconut shell, blend the mixture with adequate quantity of water for thick gravy, cook the mixture until the fava beans turn tender.
